African Violets Part 1

My mother and dad had African Violets. My mother's best friends, Bettie and Yvonne had African Violets. I have been collecting advice for the past 3-4 years on how to grow them. One HUGE advantage is that you can start new plants very easily. I have already given my daughter-in-law a plant started from Yvonne's clippings. I have 3 more plants started from my dad's original...the best gifts are ones that have meaning. All my children love it when I give them something that comes from a grandparent or older friend.
Miss Penny Saver TIP #36: Patience and a little persistence....something entirely new happpens!

Make Your Own Wallet Photos

Jen is graduating on June 13th from UCLA! Needless to say, I am a pretty proud Miss Penny Saver. We were together on Mother's Day, so we took some photos to make custom wallets. I went to Walgreens, selected the best pose, put a UCLA border around it, and added the text "UCLA-2010"...so professional looking and yet cost me less than $15.00 to make 5o wallets. This may be the best Miss Penny Saver tip yet #35-Learn something new and make friends with the photo boy at Walgreens!

Send Plastic

Plastic gift card that is....I have a business acquaintance who had an accident and I wanted to send flowers. When I looked up the simple African Violet plant I wanted, it was going to be over $70 to order and send. I thought "Why not buy a gift card to Osh and let her pick out what she wants and get more for her money?" That is exactly what I did...I even bought a designer card considering the $ I saved not using FTD!
Miss Penny Saver TIP # 34: Don't waste money on service and delivery fees...be creative!
